Vacation!!!!
I'm leaving Friday afternoon for vacation. I'll be gone for two weeks but I may find time to pop in from my mom's house. I won't be back home until 8/22 though. For those of you that don't know... Matt, sis and myself are going to Wy/SD to visit family and to go to the Sturgis motorcycle rally. I'll be around still tomorrow but not likely on Friday. I will be able to pick up my email from mom's and I will probably be setting up yahoo IM for her so if you see me on there its not someone stealing my account ;)
I hope to be blogging some but not exlusively on my regular blog but also on my scooterchick.net blog. So if you are interested in any of my rally related adventures you can catch up with me there.
Hope to return with scads of piccies to share!

at 8/6/2004 10:16:00 AM- hmmm...paid them extra beyond what they were paying them to work?
Many people who work downtown went to see the rally...and many businesses paid them while doing so. It's called Employee Satisfaction. When they returned to work, they were happier, and worked harder than if they had been kept from participating. (That's the general philosophy at least.)
When Bush/Cheney speak downtown they do the same thing.

at 8/6/2004 11:36:18 AM- i still think my idea of having a reality tv show Who Wants to Be the Next President would be a better way of determining the transition of power.
then we would actually be able to see how the candidates would respond to simulated presidential duties and demands.
as it is, it's just a cock and feathers show. the current campaign-election process is no more informative than a dance-off or a hot dog eating contest.
by the way, i think gw would win the hot dog eating contest. and the dance-off would be a tie.

at 8/6/2004 1:44:43 PM- Showtime is doing one right now. The American Candidate or something.
The winner doesn't get to be President, nor do they get to run for President (which was the original prize back when the idea was being formulated). I think they get 1 hour or something on TV to state their views.
Chrissy Gephardt (Dick's Daughter) is the best known person participating.

Kerry was in town today. Guess they were afraid there weren't going to be enough bodies to impress the cameras, so the unions PAID union members to attend the rally. I guess this is the Democrats answer to unemployment.
